Hi, I’m Percy. I was hanging around a Seal Beach home when I was rescued by a man who loved cats but couldn’t keep me. He took me to the vet to be checked out, had me fixed, chipped, and vaccinated, and then brought me to SBACC. Adjusting to life at a shelter after being out on the street wasn’t easy. I’m a friendly guy and I think I like people better than other cats. I enjoy pets and attention but my behavior can be a bit unpredictable, so a home with young children or seniors probably wouldn’t be a good idea. Actually, I was adopted pretty quickly but I escaped out a window on my very first night in my new home and it took nearly six weeks before my adopter and his neighbors were able to catch me and I came back to SBACC. The good news is that I survived without any serious injuries. The not-so-good news is that I’m now FIV+. However, it’s not that big a deal. Despite what many people think, cats with FIV can live long, healthy lives and it’s not contagious and can’t be transmitted from cat to cat by sharing food, water, or litter boxes.
